Buying Guide: Choosing the right bike tires, inner tubes, and pumps
Proper bike tires and correct pressure determine your ride comfort, speed, and safety. Discover over 3,500 bike tire and pump supplies in stock at Tormino.
1. ETRTO Sizing: The universal standard
Always look at the ETRTO size on your current tire sidewall (e.g. 37-622). 37 is width in mm, 622 is exact rim diameter.
2. Valve Types: Dunlop, Presta, or Schrader
Dunlop valves are standard on Dutch city bikes and e-bikes. Presta valves are slim for high pressure on road bikes. Schrader auto valves allow inflating at gas stations.
3. Recommended Pressure in Bar and PSI
City bikes: 3.5 to 4.5 Bar. E-bikes: 4.0 to 5.0 Bar. Road bikes: 6.0 to 7.5 Bar. Mountain bikes: 1.8 to 2.4 Bar. Check pressure monthly.
4. Puncture Protection & E-Bike Certification (ECE-R75)
